RCBC dean elected president of international academic advising organization

RCBC Dean of Enrollment Management Karen Archambault will serve as president of NACADA: The Global Community for Academic Advising.

Rowan College at Burlington County has announced that Dean of Enrollment Management Karen Archambault has been elected to serve as President of NACADA: The Global Community for Academic Advising.

According to RCBC, the NACADA: The Global Community for Academic Advising is a nonprofit organization that promotes and supports quality academic advising in institutions of higher education to enhance the educational development of students.

College officials say the group has more than 13,000 members from all states and many other countries. The members consist of faculty members, professional advisors, administrators, counselors, and other student affairs and academic personnel concerned with the intellectual, personal and vocational needs of students.

“At Rowan College at Burlington County, Karen has proven to be a leader who advocates for initiatives that put the interests and needs of students first,” said Acting President Michael Cioce. “It is wonderful to see her being recognized on this level by her peers. We are proud of her accomplishments and know she will be a great asset to NACADA in her new role.”

Archambault has been a member of NACADA since 2003 and currently serves as vice president and is a member of the group’s board of directors. She will officially assume the role of president in October and will serve a one year-term. In this role, she will be responsible for leading the board and implementing the strategic goals of the association.

“It is a great professional honor to serve as president and to continue to give back to this organization from which I have received so much,” Archambault said. “I look forward to promoting the importance of effective advising to college and university decision makers, the research produced by NACADA and its membership, the professional development of those involved in academic advising, and much more in this role.”

Archambault holds a doctorate in educational leadership from Rowan University, a master’s in counseling from Trinity Washington University, a master’s in history from Old Dominion University and a bachelor’s in history from Salisbury University. Archambault’s work has been recognized by several national organizations in 18 years of experience in higher education.
