Police arrest juvenile for threats against Burlington Township School District

15-year-old Mt. Holly male allegedly made threatening comments on social media

On March 13, at approximately 3 p.m., the Burlington Township Police Department arrested a 15-year-old male from Mt. Holly for making threatening comments on social media that targeted the Burlington Township School District. The arrest was the result of an investigation that began earlier in the morning when school district officials reported the social media threat to the police department.

The school district and police department coordinated to increase security within the schools while the police department’s school resource officers and detectives worked to identify the source of the threat. The juvenile has been charged with terroristic threats and false public alarm. A decision regarding his release or detention is pending with the appropriate juvenile authority.

The Burlington Township Police Department prioritizes the safety of our school district’s students and staff. As such, the police said they will aggressively investigate all threats to determine their source, assess their credibility, mitigate any danger, and safeguard the safety of the students, the district personnel and our community as a whole.
