Gloucester Township resident Erin Hebler, an area hairstylist and makeup artist, will have a grand opening for her own salon in Moorestown on Saturday, March 16.
Her Sola Salons Suite will open on Young Avenue to serve regular Hebler clients from Berlin and Voorhees, among others. The 46-year-old Hebler – who’s been in the beauty industry since 1998 – specializes in full-service hair care and makeup for special occasions such as proms and weddings. Her passion for hairstyling, she says, goes back to her early years, where she began honing her skills despite obstacles as a teen.
A high-school dropout and runaway, Hebler’s personal challenges included ADHD and dyslexia. She found herself at a crossroads at 18 when she discovered she was pregnant. But she was determined to secure a better future for her son Jared, who is now 27.
“I dropped out of Cherokee High School though I loved it, but had to leave because I wasn’t good at school,” Hebler acknowledged. “I ended up getting my GED from Gloucester County College 10 days before I gave birth to my son.”
Hebler enrolled at the Rizzieri Institute just three months after having Jared, and got her license nine months later. Over the course of 15 years, she’s worked in various salons owned by others.
Hebler embarked on an academic journey in 2008, when she enrolled in an undergraduate psychology program.
“I attended Ashford University online,” she recalled. “It was the only way I was able to do well in school with my ADHD and learning disabilities. I ended up graduating summa cum laude with a 3.89 GPA.”
Hebler went on to pursue a master’s in criminal justice at Saint Joe’s University in 2012, with a specialty in behavior analysis. She entered the corporate world, working in accounting, property management and with non-verbal autistic populations. But she felt a longing for change during COVID.
A deep soul-searching journey ensued, and Hebler realized her passion was hairstyling and makeup, among other skills. Determined to fulfill her childhood dream of owning a salon, Hebler discovered the Sola Salon Suites chain and fell in love with the concept.
As for her grand opening, she hopes to connect with the community that has played a pivotal role in her journey.
“The community came behind me during covid to support me and my lingering symptoms from then the relationships blossomed into a network of loving individuals, which led to my clientele growing. My dedication and time in the salons allowed me to connect deeply with my clients to make them more of family rather than just a paying client.”
