BHMS Future Business Leaders of America to attend state competition on March 15

The 16 students will be the first at BHMS to compete at a state level.

Bunker Hill Middle School FBLA students attended a leadership summit at Salem High School on Nov. 29.

Sixteen Future Business Leaders of America students from Bunker Hill Middle School will compete against students from all over the state on March 15 — in categories such as Financial Literacy and Business Math, Career Exploration and Planning, Computer Science and Coding, Multimedia and Website development and a Community Service project.

Eighteen students competed in the southern regional exams, and 11 scored high enough to move on to the state level.

Students Ethan Wilson, Nicolas Lunt, and Edward Tobler will compete in Business Math and Financial Literacy. Students Abby Wilson, Casey Torbik, Maeve Fitzgerald, Anthony Sciotto, and Gavin Kim — no.1 in the region — will compete in Career Exploration. Student Justin Ardito will compete in Intro to Computer Science and Coding, and Katrina Lucero — no.1 in the region — will compete in Multimedia and Website Development.

Additionally, the BHMS FBLA organized and administered a community service project to raise money for their national philanthropy, the March of Dimes. Five representatives from the chapter will present their service project at the State Leadership Conference, competing against other New Jersey chapters. If students score well at the state level, they will have the opportunity to compete at the FBLA National Leadership Conference in Baltimore, Maryland from June 28 to July 1.
