Burlington County can expect rain, snow and sleet through Thursday morning
Winter weather is on the way for Burlington County and the surrounding region as the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch from 7 p.m. on Tuesday through 3 a.m. Thursday.
Light rain and light snow is expected beginning this evening, with a changeover to snow late tonight and Wednesday. A mix of rain, snow and sleet may occur at times during Wednesday and there could be a period of heavy snow Wednesday afternoon and evening, with snowfall rates of up to one inch per hour.
An advisory from the National Weather Service shows there is still a lot of uncertainty with the forecast. A general snow accumulation of two to six inches is expected, though it is unknown where the rain and snow line will line up, according to the NWS.
Residents should still plan on difficult travel conditions, especially during the evening commute on Wednesday. Significant reductions in visibility are possible. It is possible for trees and power lines to be brought down by the weight of the wet snow, especially if there is heavy snow. Wind gusts up to 40 miles per hour are also possible.
