Weekly Roundup: Evesham Police investigate thefts at local gym, Samaritan Gala raises $215,000

Evesham Police investigating series of thefts from cars and lockers at the Marlton LA Fitness

The following information is on file with the Evesham Township Police Department:

Officials with the Evesham Township Police Department say the department is investigating a series of thefts from cars and lockers at the Marlton LA Fitness, located at 1051 N. Route 73. Police say a total 19 thefts from lockers and vehicles have resulted in thousands of dollars worth of personal property being reported stolen. Police have also released tips to help members of the public prevent becoming a victim of such thefts.

Lenape Regional High School District’s Violence, Vandalism and HIB Report consistent with last year

From July 1 through Dec. 31, the Lenape Regional High School District saw little change in the total number of incidents of violence, vandalism, weapons offenses, substance abuse and harassment, intimidation and bullying when compared to the same period for the previous year. James Kehoe, the district’s security and emergency management coordinator, said the district saw 29 incidents during that time. That figure was only a slight increase from the 28 incidents the district saw for the same reporting period from the previous year.

Samaritan Healthcare & Hospice held its annual Celebration of Life Gala on Saturday, Feb. 10, at the Crowne Plaza, Cherry Hill. The event raised $215,000 for the not-for-profit’s programs and services benefiting seriously ill patients and their families, as well as those grieving a loss — including the more than 500 veterans Samaritan cares for each year.

Seneca High School science teacher named Lenape Regional High School District Teacher of the Year

This year’s Teacher of the Year for the Lenape Regional High School District is Seneca High School science teacher Dusty Carroll. Carroll is under consideration for the Burlington County Teacher of the Year as well. Pictured is Carroll with her Accelerated Chemistry class.

Dusty Carroll, a science teacher at Seneca High School, has been named the 2018–19 Lenape Regional High School District (LRHSD) Teacher of the Year and is currently under consideration for the Burlington County Teacher of the Year. She began her tenure at Seneca in 2004 and has since taught Chemistry and AP Chemistry, Environmental Sustainability, Physical Science and Engineering Design and Development –a capstone course that is part of the Project Lead the Way program. Carroll resides in Marlton with her husband Tim.

Evesham Police arrest men allegedly attempting to steal from store for third consecutive day

The following information is on file with the Evesham Township Police Department:

On Feb. 21 at 2 p.m., officers with the Evesham Township Police Department responded to the Burlington store, 101 S. Route 73, for two alleged shoplifters on location that police say had allegedly stolen merchandise from the store previously on Feb. 19 and Feb. 20. Police say officers located the two males and their investigation determined that they were allegedly responsible for the two prior shoplifting incidents.
