Mullica Hill couple dead after 8 a.m. shooting
Release issued by the Gloucester County prosecutor’s office:
A 74-year-old Mullica Hill woman who was being treated at the Jefferson Health Care Center’s Sub-Acute Rehabilitation Unit on Egg Harbor Road in Sewell was shot this morning by her husband in an isolated incident at the facility. The husband then fatally shot himself.
The woman was transported to the trauma unit of Cooper Medical Center in Camden where she was pronounced. Her husband, 76, of the same Mullica Hill address, died at the scene of the shootings. The isolated incident at the 60-bed sub-acute rehabilitation center occurred shortly before 8 a.m.
Officers of the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office and the Washington Township Police Department are investigating.
