Husband shoots wife, then himself at Jefferson’s Rehabilitation Unit

Washington Township Police Department and officers of the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s office are investigating the incident.

A 74-year-old woman of Mullica Hill, who was being treated at the Jefferson Health Care Center’s Sub-Acute Rehabilitation Unit on Egg Harbor Road in Sewell, was shot this morning by her husband in an isolated incident at the facility. The husband then fatally shot himself.

The woman was transported to the trauma unit of Cooper Medical Center in Camden, NJ, where she was pronounced. Her 76-year-old husband, also of Mullica Hill, died at the scene of the shootings. The isolated incident at the 60-bed sub-acute rehabilitation center occurred shortly before 8 a.m.

Officers of the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office and the Washington Township Police Department are investigating.
