MooreUnity sponsoring Better Angels workshop

The workshop will take place on Sunday, Feb. 17 at the Mount Laurel Library.

MooreUnity is sponsoring a Better Angels Workshop on “How to Communicate Across the Political Divide on Sunday, Feb. 17th from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at the Mount Laurel Library.

Better Angels is a nation-wide organization that was formed in 2016, right after the election, by people who felt that the divide between voters who are conservative leaning and liberal-leaning had become so severe that we were headed for a kind of “civic divorce”.

In order to gradually reverse this trend, Better Angels has created a couple of workshops and has trained moderators across the country to facilitate events. The first Better Angels workshop in New Jersey will be held at the Mount Laurel Library.

Better Angels Skills Workshop helps teach people how to have open, honest and non-judgmental conversations with people of differing political views. These workshops are intended to help people on both sides of the red/blue divide decrease stereotyped thinking about the other side and develop more trust in the basic humanity and the good intentions of those on the other side.

The workshops work best if we have a balance of Reds and Blues. If you’re someone who typically votes for a Republican, you’re encouraged (not required) to invite a friend who’s a Democrat to join you (and vice versa).

To register for the workshop, please contact Karen Reiner at [email protected], and to learn more about Better Angels, please visit their website at https://better-angels.org/
