Rev. Douglas C. Halvorsen was named president and CEO in 2002 and served in that position untilĀ 2018.
The Rev. Douglas C. Halvorsen, president and chief executive officer of The Evergreens Continuing Care Community has announced his retirement effective Feb. 4. Halvorsen joined The Evergreens board of trustees in 1995 and was hired as executive vice president there in 1999. He was named president and CEO in 2002 and served in that position untilĀ 2018.
Halvorsen is licensed in New Jersey as a Nursing Home Administrator. He previously served as chief clinical officer of Cummins Behavioral Health System in Avon, Ind., and as Vice President, Clinical Services, for Services Centers of NJ in Trenton. He is a graduate of Asbury College, Rutgers University and Princeton Theological Seminary. He is also certified in aging services through the University of NorthĀ Texas.
Upon retirement from The Evergreens, Halvorsen will remain active within The Episcopal Diocese of New Jersey, serving as an interim rector of a parish in SouthĀ Jersey.
Among his many accomplishments during his tenure at The Evergreens, Halvorsen oversaw the planning, financing, construction and opening of a four-story health care center, which added a critical component to the continuum of care offeredĀ there.
Halvorsen was an active member in the Moorestown Rotary Breakfast Club, the Chamber of Commerce of Southern New Jersey, LeadingAge and LeadingAge NJ. He is also a life member of the Naval War College Foundation.
As time allows, Halvorsen will pursue his love of hunting and most importantly, having the opportunity to spend more time with his family, particularly his two grandchildren who live in Omaha. Halvorsen currently resides with his wife in Mount Laurel and DiamondĀ Beach.
