MFS delegates found their voices at Model UN conference
On Thursday, Jan. 25, 30 students from Moorestown Friends School departed for the Ivy League Model United Nations Conference in Philadelphia, and on Sunday, Jan. 28, they returned with more commendations than MFS delegates have earned at any previous conference. ILMUNC is a four-day conference run through the University of Pennsylvania. Ali Chesnick, Jordan Brunner and Dylan Mitnick were recognized as “Outstanding Delegations,” which is a top tier award in Model United Nations. Additionally, Mariana Goldlust, Andrew Rowan and Micaela Coll received honorable mentions for their work on committees. Finally, MFS students Eli Gamber, Kayla Patel, Serena Lin, Calum Boone, Aaron Klein, Christine Chandran, Cameron Stirner and Evan Fenska received verbal commendations.
St. Vincent de Paul Conference comes to Moorestown
Moorestown residents in need will soon have a new place to turn for help. The St. Vincent de Paul Conference of Moorestown will be serving the community as soon as February. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is a national, nonprofit, Catholic organization whose goal is offer aid to those in need. John Kallelis, president of the Moorestown conference, has volunteered with Medford’s St. Mary of the Lakes Conference for the last 20 years. He said members of the St. Mary’s conference asked him to help bring a conference to Moorestown, and Kallelis, a Moorestown resident, has spent the last several weeks getting the word out that St. Vincent de Paul has come to town.
MTC earns national recognition for excellence in acting
From Jan. 12 to Jan 14., Moorestown Theater Company performed at JTF, which is the world’s largest theater festival for children. The MTC’s Academy B group earned a Freddie G award for “Excellence in Acting” for its performance of “Hairspray, Jr.,” and 10-year-old Mt. Laurel resident Lily Sims, who played Mrs. Bucket in “Willy Wonka, Jr.,” won a Freddie G award for “Excellent Individual Performance by a Female” for her performance.
