Cherokee had 33 of its more than 100 DECA students in the DECA Regional Competition qualify for the State Career Development Conference.
More than 100 Cherokee DECA students recently participated in the South Jersey DECA Regional Competition.
Students competed against other local high school students by doing role plays in various areas of business.
There were 33 of the Cherokee students who participated who qualified to attend the State Career Development Conference in February.
Those students include: Angelica Baranek, Ally St. Jean, Dan Martin, Trevor Etkins, Cameron Vinson, Lauren Hollis, Palak Jain, Jared Selkow, Ed Venetsky, Mili Mehta, Neha Shah, Emily Donohue, Max Rubin, Brianna Glenning, Gabby Prendergast, Chris Cato, Zach Rubio, Aidan Daniels, Blake Sokol, Kyle Scott, Gigi Glenning, Dan Sikora, Alexis Armstrong, Derek Mihalecsko, Andrew Kotch, Katie Hoban, Madison Hyland, Jack Arber, Kyle Cunningham, Samantha Walker, Francis Agnes, Tim Cook, and Matt Cook. Students who placed in the top three for their events include Cameron Vinson (1st Place Business Finance), Lauren Hollis (Second Place Business Finance), Chris Cato (First Place Entrepreneurship), Aidan Daniels (Third Place Food Marketing), and Blake Sokol (Third Place Hotel and Lodging Management).
The State Career Development Conference will be held at Harrah’s in Atlantic City from Feb. 27 through March 1. Students who compete that place in the top six in the state will qualify to attend the International Career Development Conference in Atlanta in April.
