The honor is the fourth for the district, the only Gloucester County school district to be recognized this year.
The Washington Township School District has been named to the College Board’s 8th Annual Advanced Placement Honor Roll, one of 447 school districts in the United States and Canada so honored. The award is presented each year to districts who succeed in expanding access to AP courses to a more diverse group of learners while simultaneously improving performance.
The honor is the fourth for the District, which was honored in 2012, 2016 and 2017 and currently offers 25 advanced placement courses at Washington Township High School. WTPS was one of only 39 districts in New Jersey to earn the current honor roll distinction, and the only Gloucester County school district to be recognized.
“Our AP program succeeds because of the efforts of some of the finest teachers in the Washington Township School District, the great support of our Board of Education, our superintendent, our counseling department, our curriculum department and supervisors and our community,” WTHS Principal Ann Moore said. “Our students are aware of the rigor of the courses. They are willing to put in the work and are motivated to become successful students. This doesn’t happen without the support that our students receive at home — a foundation that teaches them the value of seeking the best possible educational opportunities. This really is a community award, and we are proud of it.”
