Evesham Police offer tips to fight phone scams

The following information comes from the Evesham Township Police Department:

Evesham Police officials say the department has recently been receiving numerous calls regarding phone scams. According to police, victims have been getting phone calls stating a family member has been arrested and needs bail money. Police say scam callers will tell victims to wire money or put money on gift cards. Also, police say residents are receiving calls saying that they owe money to the government.

U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary offers winter boating safety courses at Evesham Fire Department

The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, Marlton, NJ, Flotilla, is heating things up by offering winter classes for the required Boating Safety Course at Evesham Fire and Rescue, 26 E. Main St. Those interested can choose either the two day session, on Wednesday, Feb. 7 and Thursday, Feb. 8, from 8 a.m. to noon, or they can choose one, full-day session on Saturday, Feb. 10, from 8 a.m . to 5 p.m.

Evesham Township Police Department names “Officer of the Month” for December 2017

The Evesham Township Police Department has announced its “Officer of the Month” for December 2017 in Officer Gary Borbidge. Police commend Borbidge for the motor vehicle pursuit of a stolen vehicle, eventually chasing the suspect on foot as well. Police say Borbidge is being commended for his quick actions and commitment to making the township a safer place. According to police, Borbidge has been a member of the Evesham Township Police Department for 15 years.

Cherokee High School Girls Basketball collecting gently used shoes to help charity fight poverty

According to the Cherokee High School Girls Basketball and the Lady Chiefs Hoops Association (LCHA), one person’s unwanted shoes can help provide meaningful opportunities that many in developing nations need. With that in mind, Cherokee Girls Basketball and the LCHA have launched a shoe drive to collect 150 or more pairs of new or gently used shoes.

Evesham Township School District offering tuition-based full-day kindergarten for 2018–2019 year

The Evesham Township School District will again be offering a tuition-based full-day kindergarten program for the 2018–2019 school year. The curriculum used is aligned to what is currently being offered in the district’s half-day program, while also extending early reading and math concepts, language development, fine and gross motor skills, related arts and social skills into a complete full-day academic program.
