The following is a press release from Virtua Health System:
Virtua Memorial in Burlington County and Virtua Voorhees have been awarded the Blue Distinction Designation for Maternity Care from the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association (BCBSA). The Blue Distinction Specialty Care Program is a national designation program recognizing health care facilities that demonstrate expertise in delivering specialty care safely, effectively and cost-efficiently.
The goal of the Blue Distinction Specialty Care Program is to help consumers find both quality and value for their specialty care needs, while providing a credible foundation for employers to design benefits tailored to meet their quality and cost objectives.
“Virtua is honored to be recognized with the prestigious Blue Distinction Designation for Maternity Care at both our Mt. Holly and Voorhees hospitals,” said Virtua Program Director of Women’s Health Nicole Lamborne, MD. “Virtua is a leader in maternal and child health services delivering nearly 8,000 babies a year. Providing quality health care to the mothers and babies of southern New Jersey is our priority, and this award is a tribute to the hard work, dedication and expertise of all of Virtua’s maternal-fetal health professionals.”
Blue Distinction is a nationwide program of the BCBSA that recognizes facilities that have demonstrated expertise in delivering high quality health care and improved outcomes for patients. Facilities are evaluated on multiple criteria that evaluate quality, safety and cost efficiency. Only hospitals that meet the standards are recognized as Blue Distinction Centers for their proven expertise, high quality care and patient results.
Virtua Memorial and Virtua Voorhees are designated as a Blue Distinction Center for Maternity Care by Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, which is an independent licensee of Blue Cross Blue Shield Association.
