Stacey Jordan re-elected as mayor of Moorestown
On Monday, Jan. 8, surrounded by her family, Stacey Jordan took the oath of office for the second time. Having made history in 2013 as Moorestown’s first female mayor, Jordan was sworn in once again following a unanimous vote from council.Councilwoman Victoria Napolitano nominated Jordan, with Councilman Michael Locatell seconding the sole nomination.In the subsequent vote for deputy mayor, Delgado was the sole nominee, having been nominated by Locatell. Delgado was sworn in following a 4–1 vote, with Councilwoman Lisa Petriello voting “no.”
Resident trying to ‘save the character of the town’ by moving historic barn
Alfred Driscoll’s proposal to save one of Moorestown’s historic barns was accepted by the Historical Society, and if all goes according to plan, the barn could be disassembled and transported to his 2nd Street home as soon February. Driscoll is fundraising to help finance the move, and his hope is that his fellow residents are equally eager to help him save a piece of Moorestown history. Driscoll plans to restore the barn and turn into a work space for his whole family while maintaining as much of the barn’s historic integrity.
Backyard ice rink bringing friends and family together during the winter months
For nearly a decade, Jeff Banasz has transformed the backyard of his family’s Moorestown home into their own personal ice rink. Each year, the rink has grown in both notoriety and size. When the rink first opened, it measured 20 feet wide by 40 feet long, but today, the rink has grown to 35 feet wide by 65 feet long.On Friday, Dec. 29, the rink opened for the ninth year. The Banasz family spread word of the opening via the Facebook page they created to update family and friends about the rink.
