Mt. Laurel resident recently honored as a ‘Santander Community Quarterback’ at Eagles game

Resident Trisha Baum was honored for her years of volunteer work and the Hand ’n’ Heart nonprofit she launched in June.

Inspiring community members Leona Iverson, Dan Taylor, and Trisha Baum enjoy the Eagles game from the Santander Field Club on Dec. 31, part of the VIP experience they received as honorees in the ‘Santander Community Quarterback’ program.

Trisha Baum was recognized for what Santander Bank officials describe as her “incredible work in the community” at last Sunday’s Eagles game on Dec. 31 as an honoree in the inaugural “Santander Community Quarterback” program.

Santander Bank and the Philadelphia Eagles created this program to honor individuals who exemplify leadership, dedication and commitment to improving their communities. Throughout the season, 10 winners will be selected by a panel of judges made up of representatives from Santander and the Eagles.

Since 2011, officials say Baum has volunteered with many local organizations, dedicating her time to helping the homeless, particularly those struggling with addiction, and supporting their family members who are also impacted by their situation. In June of 2017, Baum launched her own non-profit, Hand ’n’ Heart, to educate family members about addiction and mental illness, help place those in need into detox or treatment, and end the stigma associated with addiction and mental illness. Officials say Baum is devoted to making sure everyone has a voice and no one is turned away when they seek help.

According to officials, Baum was inspired to begin her work more than ten years ago after her own experiences with a brother who has struggled with addiction and homelessness and a son with special needs. Now through Hand ’n’ Heart, Baum and her team are able to provide ongoing support to those in need, holding monthly events and speaking to local schools to raise awareness of mental health issues. Baum is known in the community for distributing “Blessing Bags” filled with essential supplies and encouraging notes to ensure those who are homeless do not feel alone. Hand ’n’ Heart is expanding with the help of volunteers and donors in their continued efforts to provide support to those in need.

As a winner, Baum received $1,000 for the local nonprofit organization of her choice and a VIP experience at the Eagles home game versus Dallas on Dec. 31, which included the chance to watch the game in the Santander Field Club, located in the end zone at Lincoln Financial Field. Last month, fans had the opportunity to vote for one of three finalists to be named the Top Community Quarterback. The winner will be announced in January and will receive an additional $4,000 to donate to a local nonprofit of his or her choice.

According to officials, The Eagles and Santander are committed to recognizing outstanding individuals and deeply respect the people who make the Greater Philadelphia region a better place. Nominations were open through Nov. 27 and fans had the opportunity vote for the Top Community Quarterback from Dec. 6 through Dec. 15. For more information, visit www.santanderbank.com/CommunityQB.
