Employee recognition event
As we close out the year, I wanted to recognize all those who contributed to my administration’s success this year. On Dec. 20 and Dec. 21, I was able to recognize someone in each department who went above and beyond to perform their roles and deliver services to Washington Township residents. Each department plays a crucial role in how the township operates and all of the employees contribute to the township as a whole. Thank you to all those employees whom we were able to recognize for doing an outstanding job and thank you to all of our employees for your dedication each day.
Shop Washington Township Program Launch Party
After much anticipation, we are ready to launch the Shop Washington Township program with more than 15 participating businesses. Residents will be able to shop at these local businesses and receive a credit on their property taxes. We will be recognizing the participating businesses at the township reorganization meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 3, at 6 p.m. The Shop Washington Township program cards will be sent out with the township calendars we are bringing back. Please keep an eye out for the calendar and Shop Washington Township program card in your mail. Instructions on how to register your card are on the back cover of your calendar. Also, our generous sponsor Republic Bank is hosting a Launch Event for the program on Saturday, Feb. 3, from 10 a.m. to noon at Republic Bank in Washington Township. We will be inviting participating businesses and residents to join in the event. Refreshments will be provided and we will review how the program works, with the opportunity to receive your Shop Washington Township card so you can receive rewards on your property taxes.
Year-end review
As this year comes to a close, I am proud of what my administration has accomplished. I am committed to providing the residents of Washington Township with the quality services they expect and deserve at the lowest possible cost. In 2017, many new businesses have come to Washington Township, including but not limited to craft stores, pet stores, fitness centers, specialty food products and more. We have also taken major strides to cut costs, and have done so with our banking services, IT services, phone and Internet services and energy services, just to name a few. This has allowed us to provide increased community activities such as the Fourth of July Parade and additional movies/concerts at Washington Lake Park. We have updated equipment where necessary so our police, public works and clean communities staff have the tools they need to protect and care for the community. I would like to thank township council and our staff, as well as the residents for their support as we continue to make improvements to ensure Washington Township is a great place in which to live, work and raise a family.
