Fun for teens and tweens at the library
The Margaret E. Heggan Free Public Library in Washington Township has some fun activities planned for teens and tweens in grades six through 12 during the week the schools are closed. These events are open to Heggan Library cardholders in grades six through 12 only. Advance online or phone registration is required for each event. Toys for Tots drive by county Republican Committee collects more than 300 toys
The Gloucester County and Camden County Republican Organizations proudly announce record success for the first-annual two-county sponsored “Toys for Tots” drive that was held Dec. 5 at Adelphia Restaurant, in Deptford. The event generated more than 300 new unwrapped toys in time for distribution during this season of giving. More than 300 people attended the event, with live music from the band “Frankie and the Flatliners” adding to the festivities. The “Toys for Tots” Foundation is run by the United States Marine Corp Reserve where new unwrapped toys are distributed to less fortunate children in our community, with the primary goal of delivering a message of hope and assisting them in becoming responsible, productive and patriotic citizens.
WTHS Air Force JROTC cadets help give rescued dogs a Christmas miracle
Cadets from the Washington Township High School Air Force Junior ROTC program recently helped unload more than 300 puppies and dogs, rescued from Georgia and transported to Swedesboro, receive a Christmas miracle through their volunteer service in support of the Animal Aid USA organization. The group’s work on Dec. 17 marked their fourth time in assisting with area pet transfers.
