The Evesham Township Police Department is reminding residents to stay safe while out shopping this holiday season.
During this hectic time of year, police officials are promoting the following safety tips for locals to remember while they’re out and about shopping for all the special ones in their lives.
Tips provided by the department are as follows:
· Stay alert and be aware of what’s going on around oneself.
· Park in a well-lighted space, and be sure to lock the car, close the windows, and hide shopping bags and gifts in the trunk.
· Avoid carrying large amounts of cash, and pay with a check or credit card whenever possible.
· Don’t overburden oneself with packages.
· Be extra careful with purses and wallets. Carry a purses close to the body, not dangling by the straps.
· Put wallets in an inside coat pocket or the front pocket of a pair of pants.
· If shopping with kids, teach them to go to a store clerk or security guard if separated.
