On Dec. 10, join the search party and track Santa through the woods
WESTAMPTON, NJ — — After hearing some exciting news about Santa Claus, Rancocas Nature Center will sponsor a SantaQuest, a special search party, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec. 10 to find out if Santa will be jogging, hiking, mountain-biking or power-walking through Rancocas State Park.
“We’ve heard that an elf has sent word that Santa Claus is too big for his suit this year, so Mrs. Claus has sent him on a world-wide-workout to burn off those excess inches before Christmas arrives,” said Rancocas Nature Center’s Sanctuary Director Susan Buffalino. “Join us for a holiday family-fun adventure as we look for signs of Santa along the trails!”
This search party will track Santa through the woods and find signs of him along the way, such as antlers, hoof tracks or evidence of gifts along the trail. Children will also be able to make some edible ornaments for animals using cranberries, popcorn, peanut butter, etc., and may even get a good glimpse of Santa as he passes through the park, burning calories so he can fit into his suit.
Searchers should bring a camera or cell phone to document this unique Santa Claus sighting. A campfire and hot chocolate will be waiting for the search party when it returns. To register, call 609–261–2495 or [email protected] . Program cost for RNC members: $15/family (limit 5); Non-members: $21/family (limit 5). Pay on the day of the program. For this special program, there is no participation without pre-registration, and no rain date, since Santa will need to get back to the North Pole.
Come early on Sunday for a special bake sale to benefit Rancocas Nature Center, hosted by the South Jersey Homeschool Builder’s Club, from noon to 4 p.m.
