Cherry Hill East girls swimming 2017–18 season preview
Last season: The Cougars finished with a record of 9–2. They won the South Jersey Group A sectional title over Egg Harbor Twp. High School before losing to Bridgewater-Raritan High School in the NJSIAA Group A semifinals.
Returning players: Grace Yoon won the 100 breaststroke as a freshman at the 2017 NJSIAA Meet of Champions. She will try to put up more fast times this season. Two other swimmers, Karolyn Merch and Brianna DiSanti, also had success as freshmen last year and will be back in 2017–18. Seniors Nicole Harms and Carissa Campbell will also be key swimmers this season.
New players to watch: Annie Behm and Ashley Ong are two swimmers who could burst onto the scene for Cherry Hill East this season.
Key games: The biggest dual meet of the season will come on Dec. 20, when the Cougars take on Bishop Eustace Preparatory School at Camden County Tech. Bishop Eustace and Cherry Hill East were two of the best girls swimming teams in South Jersey last season.
Season outlook: Head coach Anita Bowser has high expectations for her team this season. The Cougars are hoping to defend their sectional title and advance past the state semifinals. The team also hopes to have more swimmers qualify for the Meet of Champions in 2018.
