A two-act play featuring “ Long Live Rock and Roll” and “The Great All-American Musical Disaster” is being presented by Shawnee High School
Shawnee High School’s fall drama, “A Night of Comedy, Music (Not Really) and Ducks,” will present two comedies, each as a one act. “Long Live Rock and Roll” by Cynthia Mercati takes place in the 1950s at a girl’s academy.
The school is being turned upside down by a visiting rock and roll group. At the same time, the academy is in desperate needs of money to stay open and is banking all their hopes on an investor that does not like rock and roll.
“The Great All American Musical Disaster” by Tim Kelly takes place in the 1970s at a Hollywood movie studio. Junior Dover Jr., a movie producer, has come up with a scheme to keep his studio from closing since his last flop “Zombies of the Stratosphere.” Mayhem ensues trying to make his new picture a reality.
The play will take place at the Shawnee Auditorium, 600 Tabernacle Road, on Nov. 30, Dec. 1 and 2 at 7 p.m. A matinee will also be performed on Dec. 2 at 2 p.m. Tickets, available at the door, are $12 for adults and $7 for students. Gold Passes are accepted.
