Lions Club holiday parade returns for 57th year

The Moorestown Lions Club will host their 57th Annual Holiday Parade on Saturday, Dec. 2.

The Moorestown Lions Club is holding its 57th Annual Holiday Parade on Saturday, Dec 2. The parade, which begins at noon at the corner of Chester and Central Avenues in Moorestown, will include performances by string bands, bag pipers, the Moorestown High School Band and the Liberty Band.

In addition, there will be marching units and floats. The theme of this year’s parade is “WINTER FROLIC.” Cash prizes will be awarded to the participants in the parade best exemplifying the theme.

The parade begins at Central and Chester Avenues and travels north to Main Street. It then travels south on Main Street until it reaches Church Street and the reviewing stand where it will proceed south to Memorial Field.

For the second time, the parade will have a pet segment for anyone who wants to have their household pet in the parade. Unlike last year, when the pets were a part of the last segment of the parade, this year the pets will follow Town Council in the beginning of the parade. In this way, pet owners will not have to wait as they had to last year.

Pets, with owners attached, will congregate on Third Street at 11:45 a.m. behind the saw horse barrier immediately east of Chester Avenue. Pets should be friendly, and owners should have plastic bags with them. Costumed pets will compete for a prize, but costumes are not required.

Groups wishing to participate should notify Parade Chairman, Peter R. Thorndike, during the day at (856)795–1090 or in the evening at (856)234–7345 to register and secure further information. There is no entry fee, and the participation of any Moorestown based organization is welcomed.
