Halloween has come and gone, and Thanksgiving is fast bearing down upon us. Where has the time gone??
Something new is afoot at the Pinelands Library, a Teen Advisory Board. If you are a teen age 13 to 18 and want to make a difference in your library and community, join us to share your voice and your interests on Saturday, November 11 at 2 p.m. for our kick off meeting. Help us to promote and provide the best teen services at our library. Let us know if you will be joining us!
For our younger guests interested in all things artistic, on November 9th we have three activities. Two sessions of Abrakadoodle will be available. The first at 2 p.m. is for children 4 to 6 years old, and the second at 3 p.m. is for older children. Additionally, at 6:30 p.m., we will be hosting Draw Live with Dragonwhaler (previously Creative Kids), also for children 6+. Let your children unleash their creative imaginations to create their own artwork.
Our furry friends will be returning for Paws to Read on two different days in the coming weeks. Muffy the Pug will be at the library on Friday the 17th at 3:30 p.m., and Gage and Savana the Rhodesian Ridgebacks will be there on the 21st at 3 p.m. All the dogs are registered therapy dogs who love hearing a good story. Reading aloud boosts confidence and literacy skills in children. Sign up for a 15-minute slot to see what it’s all about.
On Monday the 21st, Miss Danielle will be leading The Wonder of Wonder, a lively discussion with fun activities based on the Choose Kind movement inspired by the book Wonder by R.J. Palacio. Palacio has written the warm, funny, uplifting story of a young boy born with a facial deformity entering mainstream school for the first time. Auggie is an ordinary fifth grader, but can he convince his classmates of that despite his appearance? This is for children 8 to 12.
Our Family Movie Night selection is Spiderman: Homecoming to be shown on Tuesday the 14th at 6 p.m. Peter Parker balances his life as a normal high school student with his alter ego super hero Spiderman while trailing a new menace in New York City. Feel free to bring your favorite blanket and snack.
Until next time, keep turning those pages and plan that holiday menu!
