Candlelight Night illuminates start to the holiday season

Candlelight Night will take place on Friday, Nov. 3 from 5 to 9 p.m.

For more than 40 years, families and friends have gathered on Main Street to celebrate the start of the festive winter months, kick off their holiday shopping and enjoy the sights and sounds of the season. Candlelight Night 2017 is Friday, Nov. 3 from 5 to 9 p.m. along historic Main Street from Church Street to Chester Avenue.

Special event attractions include:

  • 350 luminaries lining Main Street, newly decorated for the holidays
  • Horse-drawn wagon rides with costumed guides, starting at Percheron Park
  • Evening hours for shops and services, offering special items for the holidays
  • Delicious winter fare featured at local restaurants
  • Carolers and other seasonal live music
  • Old-fashioned sodas and holiday treats at Moorestown Hardware’s festive stand
  • Gingerbread house contest hosted by Long & Foster
  • $300 Moorestown Merchants gift cards raffle. Entry forms in all participating businesses
  • Tours at the Lutheran Crossings Castle and Moorestown Historical Society Mansion
  • Not-to-be-missed goodies at the MooreKids bake sale

This Moorestown tradition typically draws hundreds of families who enjoy strolling along Moorestown’s main corridor listening to music inspired by the holidays, stopping in candlelit shops and having a meal in town. Many stores and services will offer hot cider, cookies and other treats.

Event co-chairs Kathy Hiltner and George Softly are excited about all the activities they’re lining up for this year’s event.

“You can absorb the historical ambiance of our town as you visit the shops, meet the business owners and spend time with friends and neighbors,” Softly said. “It’s such a festive tradition where members of our community can connect with one another, have fun starting their holiday shopping, and celebrate Moorestown.”

Moorestown’s Candlelight Night is presented by Moorestown Business Association and supported by: The Moorestown Sun (Platinum Sponsor); ISC Mount Laurel, Robert H. Kazmierski, Orthodontist, Liberty Bell Bank, Moorestown Hardware, Saratoga Benefits (Silver Sponsors) and Long & Foster Real Estate, Inc., Lutheran Crossings at Moorestown and Weichert Realtors (Bronze Sponsors).
