The deadline to drop off a flag for the retirement service is Friday, Nov. 3.
New Jersey’s 8th Legislative District Office is collecting tattered, ripped or faded flags for a flag retirement ceremony on Sunday, November 5.
For the second year, the office has joined with the Marlton Elks Club 2514 and Elks Southwest District to collect flags to be properly retired.
According to the office, The United States Flag Code instructs that when a flag is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, it should be destroyed in a dignified way.
Those who have a flag in this condition and would like to see it retired are asked to drop if off at the 8th District Office at 176 Route 70, Suite 13, in Medford.
The office has extended hours every Monday to Thursday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Fridays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The deadline to drop off a flag for the retirement service is Friday, Nov. 3.
The retirement ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. on Nov. 5 at the Marlton Elks Lodge at 426 Evesboro Medford Road in Evesham.
