Cinnaminson preparing for annual Cinnaminson Day, which takes place on Oct. 15

“If anyone wants to see what Cinnaminson is really about, this is the place.”

Cinnaminson Day is right around the corner.

The community event, slated for Sunday, Oct. 15 from noon to 3 p.m. at Wood Park, allows townspeople to get out and enjoy the day by meeting up with friends, tasting samples from local food vendors and supporting local groups and organizations.

Donald Brauckmann, a township committee member in Cinnaminson, serves as the primary coordinator for the event. Paired with the help of Patricia Rucci, who is the main organizer of the event, Brauckmann has seen the event grow into what it is today.

“What started as a business showcase around 20 years ago has blossomed into so much more and is now an event of everything Cinnaminson has to offer,” Brauckmann said. “From our businesses, to our sports groups, community and school organizations, to our township services, Cinnaminson Day is a day that highlights everything that makes our town such a wonderful place. If anyone wants to see what Cinnaminson is really about, this is the place.”

There were approximately 80 participants who had tents in 2016, and 3,000 attendees in the last several years, Brauckmann stated. Weather is a huge factor to the success of the event, with rain and cold sometimes in the forecast. The rain date for this year’s event is Oct. 22.

“The hopes for this year is wonderful weather and smiling faces,” Brauckmann said. “Cinnaminson is a great town with many wonderful things happening, so my wish for this year’s event is that our Cinnaminson Day shows people what really makes it such a special place. It’s about our people and our community.”

This year will see tents and events for all ages to enjoy and savor.

For the children, there is always a play area featuring inflatable activities, face painting and music. The Cinnaminson police, fire, EMS and Public Works departments are the groups that come up with ideas for both children and adults.

Local restaurants and food service providers offer samples of their products, while

the Cinnaminson Sports Organization and school groups also offer spirit gear and products.

“We will also offer a free shredding service sponsored by Polar Shredding during our event, while there will be several demonstrations by youth dance, cheer and exercise groups,” Brauckmann said. “We also host a large car show which benefits CHS Project Graduation. The Armed Forces Heritage Museum and their trailer will be at our event this year to honor and pay tribute to their service and sacrifice for our freedom.”

Cinnaminson has numerous community events throughout the year, with the likes of National Night Out and the St. Charles Carnival also some fan favorites. However, Brauckmann feels Cinnaminson Day is the “best-attended event.”

“National Night Out and the St. Charles Carnival are two events that continue to grow, but I feel this is the best-attended event,” Brauckmann said. “My hopes are that Cinnaminson Day continues to improve. Suggestions are always welcomed on ways to improve our event and we’re always open to ideas from our residents.”
