The event heightens community awareness of litter throughout the township
Washington Township will hold its fourteenth annual Community Clean-Up Day on Saturday, Oct. 14 from 9 a.m. to noon with a rain date of Oct. 21. The event was created to heighten community awareness of litter throughout the township. Trash bags, gloves, reflector vests, T-shirts and other needed supplies will be provided.
A number of cleanup sites will be identified throughout the township and volunteers are assigned to particular sites based upon the sites’ needs, group’s capabilities and safety concerns. Residents are also encouraged to clean up streets and open space areas in their own neighborhoods. After the cleanup, there is a barbecue for the volunteers in Washington Lake Park.
Individuals and businesses, school and youth athletic teams, church and civic groups are encouraged to sign up to volunteer for this tremendously successful annual event. Those needing community service hours may pick up a certificate of volunteerism at the barbecue.
Registration ends Sept. 30. A registration form is available on the township website, www.TownshipNJ.com, in the “Community Events” section of October.
