U.S. Congressman Donald Norcross and “cheesesteak king” Tony Luke will speak during Kennedy Health’s Interprofessional Opioid Crisis Symposium on Wednesday, Sept. 20th at Lucien’s Manor, located at 81 W. White Horse Pike Berlin, NJ 08009. The symposium will take place from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Congressman Norcross will open the event and discuss New Jersey’s current opioid epidemic and efforts to combat it, while Tony Luke will share the personal addiction story of his son who he recently lost to a heroin overdose and take part in a panel Q&A session.
“By telling my son Tony’s story, hopefully I can help people understand that drugs have no boundaries,” Tony Luke said. “No matter a person’s circumstance in life, addiction is a possibility. There is nothing for them to be ashamed of.”
Pledging his solidarity to the victims and families of heroin overdose, Tony Luke recently announced an initiative called #BrownAndWhite (the two colors of heroin) to heighten awareness of removing social stigmas associated with use of the toxic drug.
Congressman Norcross will speak from 8 to 8:15 a.m. Tony Luke will present from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
