A helicopter crashed near Flying W Airport in Medford at approximately 12:37 p.m. this afternoon. The incident was first reported by the Courier-Post.
Details regarding injuries or a cause of the crash as currently unknown, according to the Courier-Post. However, two people were involved in the incident, according to a supervisor at the Burlington County communications center in Westampton.
A medical evacuation chopper responded to the incident.
UPDATE: The Sun has learned that the crash killed Montgomery Gentry band member Troy Gentry, according to the band’s website. The band released the following statement:
“It is with great sadness that we confirm that Troy Gentry, half of the popular country duo, Montgomery Gentry, was tragically killed in a helicopter crash which took place at approximately 1:00pm today in Medford, New Jersey. The duo was scheduled to perform tonight at the Flying W Airport & Resort in Medford. Troy Gentry was 50 years old.”
