Sheriff Jean Stanfield Announces Free Child Safety Seat Checks

Burlington County Sheriff Jean Stanfield announced on Sept. 5 that her department will be taking their child safety seat checks on the road by offering checkpoints in multiple municipalities to extend services to more residents.

“In addition to the checkpoints we hold at the County Administration Building each Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Sheriff’s Department has additional checkpoints planned for this year throughout the county,” said Sheriff Jean Stanfield. “Additionally, the night hours at the County Administration Building will be resuming from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Our goal is to provide busy parents this free service with additional locations and more flexible hours.”

“According to New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety, motor vehicle crashes are the number one cause of death of children over the age of six months in the United States. Additionally, three out of every four children in child safety seats are not properly secured, or even worse, not restrained at all,” concluded Stanfield. “The proper use of child car seats is the most effective way to protect children in the event of a motor vehicle crash and I hope our resident’s will take advantage of this service.”
