Burlington Vicinage to celebrate opening of the Courts Ceremony and Memorial Service

The Burlington Vicinage, in partnership with the Burlington County Bar Association, will hold its annual Opening of Court Ceremony and Memorial Service on Wednesday, Sept. 6 at 9 a.m. in the Olde Courthouse, 120 High St., Mount Holly.

Assignment Judge Ronald E. Bookbinder will preside over the Opening of Court ceremony and Douglas Heinold, president of the Burlington County Bar Association, will offer remarks and preside over the Memorial Service. Judge Gerard Breland will sing “Borrowed Angels” in honor of the deceased.

The first Opening of Court ceremony was held in 1972, when then Assignment Judge Edward V. Martino started the new court year with an official ceremony. In recent years, the ceremony has become a tradition in Burlington County.
