Cinnaminson’s Mike Martyn working valiantly towards Boy Scout Eagle Award

Since 2010, Mike Martyn has been a member of Boy Scout Troop 28, striving to make a difference in the community. The 17-year-old is working toward his Eagle Scout Award, the highest achievement in the Scouts. The Cinnaminson resident was originally from Maple Shade where his current troop is based. To become an Eagle Scout, a boy must earn 21 merit badges, 13 of which are required in areas such as cooking, environmental science, emergency preparedness, first aid, citizenship and others.

Riverton Country Club hosting golf fundraiser to help raise awareness for SPG47

Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia, type 47, otherwise known as “SPG47,” is an ultra-rare, newly recognized neurodegenerative disease, resembling cerebral palsy. One of those cases is 4-year-old Molly Duffy, the daughter of Riverton Country Club’s head golf professional, Kevin Duffy, and his wife Angela. Cure SPG47 is a non-profit organization that was founded in 2016 to educate others about this disease, while also trying to raise funds toward the most promising scientific research. In the United States, there are just four confirmed cases of this disease, according to Duffy.

Vouchers Still Available for New Jersey Senior Farmer’s Market Program

The program is a joint effort between the USDA and the NJ Department of Agriculture that provides low income seniors with $25 in voucher form to purchase New Jersey farmers locally grown produce. “The Burlington County Office on Aging still has vouchers available to eligible seniors,” said Freeholder Hughes. “The vouchers, which can be redeemed until November 30, 2017, provide a nutritional benefit to seniors in order to enhance their diets and to bring awareness and an opportunity to expand the sales of locally grown produce.”

Cinnaminson Community Chorus looking for singers

The Cinnaminson Community Chorus is looking for singers to add to its ever-growing group! The chorus does not require auditions for this community group that has been together for over 45 years. The chorus meets for practice at Cinnaminson High School on Riverton Road in Cinnaminson, N.J. The location is in the Chorus Room on Tuesday evenings from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Winter Concert Rehearsals start Sept. 5, 2017.
