Camden man pleads guilty to Washington Township sexual assault

Terry J. Walker of Camden was sentenced to seven years in state prison

The following information was provided by the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office:

Terry J. Walker, 32, of Camden, was sentenced Friday, Aug. 4, to seven years in state prison after pleading guilty to second-degree sexual assault by improperly touching and having oral sex with a child under age 13 in Washington Township in October, 2012.

Under the New Jersey No Early Release Act, Walker must serve 85 percent of his sentence before he can be considered for parole, Superior Court Judge M. Christine Allen-Jackson said.

Single with two children and holder of a University of Minnesota degree in early child development, Walker had a prior criminal record including domestic violence, violation of parole, unlawful possession of a weapon and had served time in prison, Allen-Jackson said.

According to Allen-Jackson, aggravating factors that warranted imprisonment included the risk Walker would commit another crime, his previous record and deterrence of him and others.
