At the World Fastpitch Connection 2017 Softball Nationals in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Alex Miller of Tabernacle won the Fastest Runner competition in the 12U Division. Playing shortstop and pitcher for the Jersey Intensity South, Alex was timed at the Monday night competition rounding the bases in 11.76 seconds. Her time was one of a few sub-12 second times turned in from all age divisions.
Alex showed her speed for the Jersey Intensity South in game situations as well collecting an inside the park home run, two triples, two doubles and several stolen bases during the seven-game tournament. She also plays softball and soccer for Olson Middle School in Tabernacle where she will be in eighth-grade in September. Alex has played softball since the age of 5 and joined the Jersey Intensity South in October 2016 where she has elevated her offensive skills and refined her talents as a shortstop under coaches Joe Moore, John Cali, Tracy Moore and Dan Murphy.
“Moving on to 14U in the fall will be a challenge, but I’m ready” said Alex as she prepares for the Jersey Intensity South 14U tryouts this month. Alex is a straight A student and treasurer of student council as well as a student athlete.
