Evesham Police recover loaded handgun and 263 bags of heroin during drug investigation

On July 18, members of the Evesham Police Investigative Unit and the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office conducted a proactive narcotics investigation into the illegal sale of heroin in Evesham Township. As a result of a vehicle stop, police found and seized 263 bags of heroin, a loaded .357 caliber handgun, marijuana, $700 in cash, along with a 2015 Nissan Altima vehicle.

It’s Christmas in July for two Marlton residents as they get ready to perform in Mainstage Center for the Arts’ production of “ELF Jr.” set to debut July 26. Marlton resident Ryan Fanelli is playing Walter Hobbs, Buddy the Elf’s real father, and Marlton resident Madison Maiorini portrays his wife, Emily. Audience members of all ages can watch Buddy, Santa Claus, Jovie, Walter, Michaela and Emily as they bring this Christmas tale to life at the Dennis Flyer Theater on July 26 through July 28.

More than $154,000 raised at Samaritan Healthcare & Hospice’s annual golf tournament

“Drive FORE! A Good Cause,” Samaritan Healthcare & Hospice’s 25th Annual Golf Tournament, recently welcomed 180 golfers to Little Mill Country Club to raise funds and awareness for Samaritan’s nonprofit services. The tournament, sponsored by The Richardson Family Dealerships, raised more than $154,000 to help Samaritan provide care for community members coping with aging, serious illness, or grief, and to assist patients and their families live with dignity, comfort and support.

Evesham Township looks to purchase compact trash compactor for trash collection in rural areas

At this week’s meeting, town council approved the first reading of an ordinance re-appropriating a $205,000 balance left over from a previous capital bond. About half will go toward the purchase of a pickup truck and small size trash compactor that can be fitted to the back the truck to be used in some areas of town for trash collection where residents live on dirt or rural roads with low tree canopies and must bring their trash to more developed roads where township vehicles can fit.

Locals in the market for a new bed or bedroom accessories can find some deals and support local students at the same time by stopping by Cherokee High School on Sunday, Aug. 13 for Cherokee Football’s fourth annual mattress fundraiser from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
