Cinnaminson Concert Series gives people a chance to relax.
Last Thursday, the Cinnaminson Township Summer Concert series continued its weekly performances at Wood Park. For the township, it is a relaxing event, which allows many townspeople to get out of the house and hear some soothing music.
Even with more than a month of summer left, the concert series is set to conclude on Aug. 3 as two more bands are expected to play.
With many summer activities to choose from, some residents of Cinnaminson reflected on their favorite part so far.
Most people mentioned being outdoors despite the high heat at times, however the activities differed.
Cinnaminson resident Ann Marie Fleming, the mother of Thursday’s concert performer Evan, just returned from a weeklong vacation in Italy with her family. Her husband Phil and other son Steve are also musicians and were part of Evan’s performance.
They returned on Tuesday with Evan taking the stage on Thursday night in front of more than 40 people.
“Going to Italy was an awesome family trip for all of us,” Fleming said. “We were able to unwind for a week and enjoy the sights.”
The Graham family of Diane and Kevin has used the county’s numerous concert series as a fun way to get out of the house.
“We try to attend each of the county’s concerts each week, whether it is going to Cinnaminson, Moorestown, or Palmyra,” Diane said. “It is a nice event each week, and we really have enjoyed the music at these concerts.”
Dottie Gerloch and Jerry Deacon didn’t have a favorite memory of the summer so far, but they are excited for the trip they are going on later this summer.
“We are going to Berkeley Springs, W.Va., later this summer and it should be a fun time,” Gerloch said. “We try to add different events to our schedule, but sometimes it can be hard with scheduling.”
Surprisingly, heading to the beach was not mentioned by any of the attendees as their favorite memory of the summer. However, it sounded like many people are looking for new and different ways to spice up their summer activities.
Ron Catlett enjoys walking from his house to the weekly concert series at Wood Park. Catlett grabs a seat inside the gazebo and enjoys the talent on display.
“My favorite part of the summer has been gardening and being outdoors,” Catlett said. “It’s nice to do other things, and I enjoy putting a lot of work into my yard work.”
The car dealer at Barlow Chevrolet in Delran also stated enjoying time with his grandchildren and seeing them grow.
Everyone who shared their favorite memories at last week’s concert had different stories to tell, but those could change with several weeks of the 2017 summer to go.
