This year’s theme is a Tribute to American Band Stand
This year’s annual Gloucester County Senior Citizen Picnic will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 20, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Red Bank Battlefield Park in National Park. This year’s theme is a Tribute to American Band Stand. A rain date is scheduled for Sept. 21.
“This is one of my favorite events that I attend in the county because our seniors are active and vibrant and know how to have a good time,” Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger said. “This annual picnic gives our older residents a chance to learn about services and programs that are available in a fun venue and has become a tradition that our seniors enjoy.”
“Our staff services thousands of seniors a year and the picnic provides a day that is fun, social and educational,” Freeholder Jim Jefferson said. “About 1,800 seniors attend the event each year and it is great for everyone to see old friends and meet new ones too.”
Jefferson, liaison to the Division of Senior Services, said that Gloucester County is home to 51,470 residents aged 60 and older.
Lunch, music, entertainment and dance contests will be presented throughout the day.
The picnic is open to residents 60 years and older. Tickets are $2 each and are available at the Division of Senior Services at 115 Budd Blvd., West Deptford and the county’s six nutrition sites. Sites can be found at http://www.co.gloucester.nj.us/depts/h/hedss/senservices/nutprogram.asp.
The ticket price helps defray the cost of the event, which is funded with the Title III Older Americans Act area grant. The nutrition sites will be closed the day of the picnic.
