The four-day conference will be held at the American Red Cross in Sewell
The American Red Cross New Jersey Region will be holding a Youth Leadership Conference this summer in Sewell. The four-day conference runs Monday to Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is open to students entering grades nine through 12. Student attendees will receive a certificate for 24 hours of community service.
“Youth are the future of American Red Cross,” said Ana Montero, CEO, American Red Cross New Jersey Region. “In addition to learning life-safe CPR skills, students will realize the capacity of their potential by participating in empowering activities designed to equip them with the skills and tools to become successful young leaders in our communities.”
The Red Cross Youth Leadership Conference will be offered from Aug. 21 through Aug. 24 at the American Red Cross, located at 3 Parke Place Boulevard, Sewell.
Participants will receive Red Cross first aid, CPR and AED training and certification. The “Be Red Cross Ready” course teaches students how to help their communities prepare for and respond to emergencies. Students will also complete leadership activities that will help them explore cultural diversity, learn the importance of teamwork and identify different leadership styles. A hands-on “Raid Cross” simulation that teaches the principles of International Humanitarian Law and information about how to start a Red Cross Club are also included at the conference.
The cost of a conference is $150 and lunch and snacks are provided. Availability is limited and spaces fill up quickly. For more information or to register, visit redcross.org/NJ.
