National Ice Cream Day is Sunday!

Families can celebrate Bastille Day in Philadelphia or relax at the JCC Camps at Medford this weekend. Check out what other events are taking place on Saturday and Sunday in this week’s Do Something.

In Voorhees

  • National Ice Cream Day is Sunday July 16. Go out and enjoy some ice cream to celebrate the day!
  • The Southern Ukes Summer Tour will be happening at the Voorhees Branch Library on Sat. July 15. The Southern Ukes are an entertainment group. Make sure to call Rosemary Scalise at (856) 772–1636 ext. 7311 before showing up.

Around South Jersey

  • Family Fun Day at the Lake is coming to the JCC Camps at Medford this weekend. The event will take place from noon to 6 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. People of all ages can enjoy a day lounging at the lake and take part in fun activities such as volleyball, swimming and paddleboats. There will also be music and food trucks on both days.   • Williamstown Fire Company and Cecil Fire Company are teaming up to host the first 5K Mud Fun Challenge. The event will take place on Saturday at Olympic Fields, 2075 South Black Horse Pike, in Williamstown. The challenge will include firefighting-inspired challenges throughout the twisting woods of Olympic Fields. Events will begin at 8 a.m. Participants can register the day of the event, cash only, until 8:45 a.m. The cost to sign up is $25. At the Jersey Shore

  • Kids of all ages can grab their boogie boards and head to North Wildwood this weekend to compete in boogie board races. The competition will kick off on Saturday at 10 a.m. at 15th Street and the beach. Kids ages 5 to 17 can compete to win prizes for most creative, longest and best overall ride. All participants must bring their own boogie board. The event is free. Registration begins at 9 a.m. Call (609) 522–2955 for more information.
  • Kids who aren’t into boogie boarding can instead head to Cape May on Sunday to participate in the 54th annual Captain Kidd Treasure Hunt. The hunt kicks off at 1 p.m. at Cape May Convention Hall, 714 Beach Avenue in Cape May. Children ages 3 to 10 can join Captain Will Kidd and search for the elusive buried treasure. In Philadelphia

  • The 11th annual Lancaster Avenue Jazz and Arts Festival will make its return to Philadelphia this weekend. The festival will be open on Saturday from noon to 7 p.m. at Saunders Park Green, located at 39th Street and Powelton Avenue in West Philadelphia. This year’s festival will feature the “New Wave of Jazz.” The day will be full of music, entertainment, vendors, food trucks and more. The rain date is Sunday. There is no cost to attend.   • Celebrate Bastille Day at Eastern State Penitentiary on Saturday. The penitentiary is teaming up with experimental cabaret troupe “The Bearded Ladies” for a presentation of the French Revolution in honor of Bastille Day. The performance is an hour-long spectacle of song, dance, and raining Tastykakes. The show begins at 5:30 p.m. and is free to attend.
