Hire Served helping change peoples lives one at a time

Cinnaminson business helping former military veterans find jobs.

For plenty of former members of the military, finding a job after their service is complete is difficult. It’s also tough for law enforcement officers and firefighters.

Hire Served connects mission-driven companies to service-minded talent and is based out of Cinnaminson. It helps companies recruit former military and law enforcement officers. President and CEO Jean South started the business in July 2016 and continues to help those who have served.

“I spent nine years in the FBI based in Philadelphia, and then two years as a consultant to a former four-star Army general,” South said. “I believe in making powerful connections to change people’s lives, and I feel we do that with our business.”

South, who runs the business out of her home in Cinnaminson, understands it isn’t easy for former military men and women to find work after their service is complete. She hopes companies will see the hard-working attitude behind these people who have served, but also their perspectives and past experiences.

“Just like my own past experiences, veterans also bring a lot to the table when it comes to their past,” South said. “We try to bind the client and the company together, by showing the client’s skillsets and their strengths.”

Under South’s leadership, Hire Served has five other leaders who work in different sections of the company. All five either have experience with the military, or have a spouse who does. Hire Served’s team, just like the clients it serves, know the process of finding work after their service is up.

As the company nears its one-year anniversary, it continues to work hard to grow as a business but also grow in helping clients find work. It has a long list of resources, while also offering career coaching. Its website allows clients to submit their resumes, while also helping mentor these veterans in finding the best job possible for them.

“Our coaching program has worked wonders in our first year, helping between 25–30 people find work after their service has ended,” South said. “In the future, we would like to become the recruiting firm of choice for small-to-medium size businesses. We want businesses to find these awesome employees, who have given their lives for the country.”

Hire Served will continue to branch out to change people’s lives and help veterans find jobs. The business will also debut an online web show called “Career Chat” that can be seen every Thursday at noon. As time goes on, South hopes the business will improve and increase awareness.

“We want to share these dedicated servants with companies and give them both the best chance possible to succeed,” South said.
