A major youth baseball tournament will kick off in Cherry Hill Township tomorrow night.
Cherry Hill National Athletic League is hosting the 2017 Cal Ripken Southern New Jersey 12-year-old 50/70 state tournament. The tournament features nine of the top Cal Ripken 12-and-under teams from around South Jersey.
As host, Cherry Hill National received an automatic berth into the tournament. They are scheduled to play Sewell at 6 p.m. on field one Thursday night. Other games taking place tomorrow evening are Moorestown versus Medford at 6 p.m. on field two and Hamilton Little Lads versus Washington Township at 8:30 p.m. on field one.
The winner of the Southern New Jersey tournament will advance to the Mid-Atlantic Regional Tournament in Clifton Park, N.Y. The regional tournament begins on July 18, with the winner receiving an opportunity to play in the 2017 Cal Ripken World Series.
