Approximately $500 worth of damage was done to a department radar message board
Sometime between Friday evening and Saturday morning, approximately $500 worth of damage was done to one of Washington Township Police Department’s radar message board.
Vandals are reported to have cut the wiring harness to the electronic board located on Johnson Road.
The message boards are portable trailer-type sign boards used for special events and traffic studies, collecting volume and speed data for better enforcement.
According to the release, “radar signs produce 10 to 20 percent reductions in average roadway speeds, along with an increase in compliance with posted speed limits.”
The message board was placed on Johnson Road due to complaints throughout the Whitman Square development, police said.
