The defendant was charged with simple assault, possession of a prohibited weapon and unlawful possession of a weapon on a summons and released pending a Burlington County Superior Court hearing.
On June 23, 2017, at approximately 11:00pm, Medford Police were contacted by the New Jersey State Police Red Lion Barracks and advised of a road rage and assault that occurred in Medford Township.
The subsequent investigation revealed that the defendant, a 53-year-old male from Folsom, PA, was involved in a road rage incident with a male subject. This incident began on S/H 70 in Southampton and continued into Medford Township.
Just east of CR 541 both vehicles stopped in the roadway and the victim exited his vehicle and walked towards the defendant’s vehicle. The defendant felt threatened by this and, while seated in the driver’s seat of his vehicle, he allegedly deployed a TASER Pulse stun gun, according to the Medford Police Department.
The probes struck the victim causing him to fall into the roadway resulting in the victim sustaining a puncture wound to the abdomen and an abrasion to his knee from the fall.
