Perkins Center for the Arts received a $20,000 grant, which will continue their efforts to eliminate financial barriers to art.
Perkins Center for the Arts announced Tuesday, June 28 that they received a $20,000 general operating support grant from The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey. The grant will enable them to present a free outdoor concert series in Burlington and Camden counties. It also provides funding for the center to assist those unable to experience the arts because of limited financial means through scholarships, low tuition programs, free musical performances in health care facilities and more.
The center is proud to continue their efforts to contribute to healthy vibrant communities by growing the arts audience in South Jersey and eliminating financial barriers to accessing the arts.
“The arts contribute to the livability, vitality and health of communities,” said Karen Chigounis, Executive Director, Perkins Center for the Arts. “Perkins Center for the Arts is honored to have The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey as a partner in our community helping to build programs that contribute toward success in all three areas.”
The concerts will range in theme from classical to classic rock and will highlight the connection between teaching and performance. Faculty from the Conservatory of Music, all of which are sought after entertainers living and working within the Delaware Valley, will present each concert.

Pearson, Executive Director of The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey. “We are proud to support this concert series and Perkins’ efforts to grow their presence in South Jersey.”
Perkins plans to host the free concerts in Moorestown and in Collingswood in 2018.
