Mayor’s Message: ‘Arts on the Boulevard’ hits Town Center

‘Smiles from Kara’ 5k Run/Walk is July 11 at Eastern Regional

Mayor Michael Mignogna

On June 21, Voorhees Township, Sustainable Voorhees and the Voorhees Town Center kicked off the first “Arts on the Boulevard” program, with artwork displayed in windows and doors along Voorhees Town Center Boulevard.

Thirty area artists each submitted up to three pieces of framed hanging art, including mosaic tile art, oil and watercolor paintings and photo art. More than 50 windows and doors at the entrance to the food court and along both sides of the Voorhees Town Boulevard will display work from artists from New Jersey and Pennsylvania. A description of the art and contact information for the artists will be posted along with their art.

The artwork will remain in place until Sept. 17 when there will be a gathering of the artists and their work from 2 to 4 p.m. in the mall community room. Everyone is invited to meet the artists and to discuss their art.

Have dinner at one of the great establishments along “Restaurant Row” then enjoy a walk along the Boulevard and appreciate the talents of area artists.

• In memory of Brooke Mulford, we are collecting toys and games for “Brooke’s Toy Closet.” Donated toys will be given to pediatric patients at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia during the holidays and on birthdays and will be used in the playrooms and patient rooms throughout the year.
