Police say a firefighter at the Masonville Road station received a text from his vehicle’s security system advising him of an intrusion.

At 6:46 a.m. on June 21, Mt. Laurel Police responded to the Mt. Laurel Fire Department on Masonville Road for a vehicle burglary in progress.
Police say the investigation revealed that an on duty firefighter received a text alert from his personal vehicle’s security system advising him of an intrusion.
When the firefighter checked on his vehicle, police say he saw a man inside rummaging around.
According to police, the suspect and an accomplice ran when they saw the firefighters; leaving their own vehicle behind.
Police say the firefighters gave chase and caught one suspect, identified as a male, age 19, of Mt. Laurel, near the corner of Larchmont Boulevard and Masonville Road.
Police say the firefighters detained the suspect until police arrived, and responding officers on Masonville Road near Creek Road located the second suspect, a male, age 18, also of Mt. Laurel.
According to police, the 19-year-old male was charged with two counts of burglary and one count of theft, and he was committed to the Burlington County Jail.
Police say the 18-year-old male was charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit burglary and released pending a court hearing.
Police say the investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be likely in relation to a recent number of burglaries of unlocked vehicles.
