On June 18, 2017 a male and female were arrrested for gun possession at 3:16 a.m.
A 25-year-old male and 19-year-old female were arrested after being stopped for going in the reverse direction at the Riverton Road jughandle.
After speaking to the driver, Officer Garrett McLaverty detected the odor of marijuana. Marijuana was also visible in the vehicle.
Both occupants were asked to exit the vehicle and a search was conducted. Officers found a 9mm handgun and a magazine loaded with hollow point bullets. Officers also located marijuana and various CDS paraphernalia. Both occupants were arrested without incident.
The male suspect from Columbia, South Carolina, was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Possession of Prohibited Ammunition, Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, and Possession of CDS Paraphernalia. He was lodged in Burlington County Jail. The female suspect also from Columbia, South Carolina, was charged with Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, and Possession of CDS Paraphernalia. She was released pending court.
