Stankiewicz and the rest of the Olympic/Colonial team will next play in the tournament’s semifinals on Friday.
Cherry Hill has one representative currently participating in the Phillies Baseball Carpenter Cup Classic tournament
Cherry Hill High School West senior John Stankiewicz is competing on the Olympic/Colonial team in the 2017 Carpenter Cup. The Olympic/Colonial team will take on the Jersey Shore in the semifinals of the tournament on Friday at 9:30 a.m. at Citizens Bank Park.
The Carpenter Cup has been a catalyst for many players to receive scholarships or admission to some of the country’s finest universities. Additionally many Carpenter Cup participants have gone on to big league careers including Mike Piazza, Ben Davis, Mike Koplove, David Miller and Bobby Higginson.
“The Phillies Carpenter Cup is the major leagues for our area’s youth,” said Jon Joaquin, Director, Youth Baseball Development, The Phillies. “Each year over 400 high school players from the area are able to showcase their skills, giving them the opportunity to receive scholarships and admission to some of the country’s top universities.”
